A concert project at CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém performing secular songs from a sixteenth-century Portuguese manuscript alongside newly commissioned music.

A six-part project dedicated to the Cancioneiro de Elvas , a Portuguese manuscript dating from the third quarter of the sixteenth century. Presented in two parts, the project performs all sixty-five secular songs preserved in the codex— vilancetes ( villancicos ), cantigas , tercets, and other poetic-musical forms (Volumes 1–3)—and commissions new music by Filipe Faria and Sérgio Peixoto for the thirty-six romances, glosses, vilancetes , and cantigas preserved in the manuscript without music (Volumes 4–6).
