On this guided tour, discover the works of Carpeaux and Rodin, and the stories, details and meanings hidden behind their sculptures. In the second half of the 19th century in France, two sculptors distinguished themselves through the originality of their creations: Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, a member of the Neo-Baroque movement, and Auguste Rodin, the pioneer of ‘modern sculpture’. Works by both artists, often created in the context of official commissions for monumental sculptural groups, gave rise to individual pieces, cast in marble or bronze, which tell stories that are imperceptible at first glance.
