Between Samurai and Violins

Original title: Entre Samurais e Violinos

A concert at CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém explores Shinichi Suzuki’s life and musical education legacy through a journey shaped by discipline, listening and care.

From the listing

Entre Samurais e Violinos traces a musical journey inspired by the life and ideas of Shinichi Suzuki, one of the leading figures in twentieth-century music education. Born into a samurai lineage and a family that owned the world’s largest instrument factory, Suzuki’s path was shaped by his late discovery of the violin, his years in Berlin, his friendship with Albert Einstein, and the development of his “mother-tongue” approach to learning. This concert celebrates a legacy that unites discipline, attentive listening, and care, revealing music as a language of learning, sharing, and personal growth. At the same time, it offers an immersive experience capable of transforming performers and audiences alike, on both sides of the stage. Commentary and Narration Susana Henriques El Corte Inglés supports the CCB’s Classical Music Mediation Programme.
