From the listing
The Franco-Algerian artist Neïl Beloufa presents two proposals exploring the ways in which information circulates, acquires value and gains credibility. Based on a survey in which thousands of people declared their support for the bombing of Agrabah—the fictional city from the Aladdin universe—Algospeak constructs an immersive environment that reveals the strange ease with which fiction can take on the consistency of fact. Portrait Shop, on the other hand, is developed by Ebb.Global, a creative studio founded by Beloufa that blends technology, design and cultural experimentation. Here, visitors are invited to enter an algorithmic amusement park, inspired both by the aesthetics of video games and the entertainment industry’s tactics of seduction and capture.
