Unfinished Symphony
Gulbenkian Orchestra performs works by Alban Berg, Schubert, Mahler and Dobrinka Tabakova in a programme dedicated to European Romanticism and Modernism.
Full description from the source
In this programme we will hear Alban Berg’s final completed work, his fascinating Violin Concerto, completed in 1935 just months before his death, as well as Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, left unfinished by the composer in 1822. These two works are joined by Blumine, inspired by a popular German poem and originally conceived as the second movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. From Bulgarian-British composer Dobrinka Tabakova, we will hear an inspired homage to Schubert. Photo © Nikolaj Lund Sponsor Gulbenkian Music
